New Diet Breakthrough
Fast Weight Loss With Advance Dieting and Fat Burning Technique
In our population's ever growing desire to be thin, there is always yet another diet that is being touted as the next greatest thing to help get that weight off. The Zone is one of those diet programs that has been around for a while now but does it do everything it claims?
The main focus of this diet is concentrated on the amount of protein, fats and carbohydrates you are required to eat. To be successful you need to maintain a diet of 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbohydrates. The book takes you through the exact amounts based on your age, height and lifestyle and for this diet to work the plan is quite rigid in maintaining these ratios.
One of the recommendations in the book is to have your protein portion fit the size of your palm. I have to admit that portion control is something I find very annoying in any diet - do I really have to sit there and cut a quarter off the chicken breast so that it fits into the palm of my hand? I prefer a diet where I don't have to get the portions just ever so right in order to make it work. Having said that I do know that portion size is important in any diet; I just don't like to have to stick to it as rigidly as is expected in this plan.
Although not forbidden completely, the diet restricts the intake of cheese and dairy products, breads, bagels, pasta and rice, Yes, that's right, all of those good tasty food items are out.
This diet is a little too rigid for my liking. Keeping up with the ratio of protein to fat and carbs is not something that really can be maintained for any length of time without the dieter becoming bored with the whole concept. In fact I really do not believe that keeping track of the protein/fat/carb rations on a daily basis is something that could be maintained on a long term basis.
It's like everything, when we embark on a new diet its exciting and we are all keen to get in there and lose the weight and at that stage calculating our daily requirements is part of the fun but can that be maintained on a long term basis? I don't think so.
